Wine tasting event to benefit first deaf children's play in Michigan

All The World's A Stage will present a wine tasting and silent auction event to benefit the first deaf/hard of hearing children's play in Michigan from 7 to 9 p.m. April 15 at the Washington Street Wine House, New Baltimore.

"We recently partnered with 'No Limits,' an afterschool enrichment and theater program in Culver City, Calif.," said Lou Fazzini, executive director of the youth theater group. "Through this partnership, All The World's A Stage will be piloting a new program for deaf and hard of hearing children. Our Speak Out theater project (as it has been dubbed) will address the auditory, speech and language needs of deaf children learning to speak, enhancing their confidence through theater arts and individual therapy."

Utilizing a script provided by the Culver City group, the project culminates with a performance in August featuring the deaf actors. Watch for more details regarding the children's production of "Mission Impossible."

Established in 1996, No Limits is a nationally recognized program that has been featured on "Oprah" and showcased by the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.

"I am proud to say that Michigan is the 10th state that they have made programming available to, and that All The World's A Stage is the connection in our state," Fazzini said.

Tickets to the fundraiser for Speak Out are $30 each. For reservations, call (810) 580-9182. The Washington Street Wine House is at 50969 Washington Street, New Baltimore.
