Spill your guts for Valentine's Day and get great prizes

Remember that first date when you spent all day baking a peanut butter praline pie with ganache topping, only to spend the rest of that night in the ER? How could you know he was allergic, right?

Anyone who has stuck their neck out for the sake of love can relate to your pain and your need to forget about it. If you want to win a wonderful trip and some cash, however, you'll remember every terrible detail.

This Valentine's Day, Lakeside is pulling out its heart-shaped bow and arrow to make amends to those of you crossed by cupid at some point in your life.

Starting Monday, Jan. 17, shoppers are invited to enter their story of a past Valentine's Day gone wrong in the "Crossed by Cupid Contest" on Lakeside's Facebook page. Once you're there click on "like" and submit your Valentine's Day example.

The contest closes Jan. 31. At this time, a panel of judges will narrow down the entries received to 10 finalists. On Feb. 4, the top 10 stories will be posted for a national public vote.

The Grand Prize winner, who will be notified on Valentine's Day, will receive a trip courtesy of Apple Vacations and a $1,000 gift card. The second place winner will receive a $500 gift card and the third place winner, a $250 gift card.

"This is just one fun way we're engaging customers via social media," said Ed Kubes, general manager at Lakeside. "It's such a popular communication medium. We want to continue creating fun promotions that recognize and reward our loyal shoppers."

Participants must be 21 years old to enter. For further information and rules, visit:  Lakeside online
